What they came in needing
A full catalogue of shirting, tailoring and outerwear for product pages, with a budget that did not stretch to a model for every piece. TODO: name the client here once cleared.
What made it difficult
Tailoring is the hardest category to shoot flat, because everything that justifies the price is structural: the shoulder line, how the collar stands, how the lapel rolls. A flat lay hides all three. Ghost mannequin shows them, but a badly executed one is worse than a flat lay, because a floating collar reads as cheap.
What we shot
Each garment dressed, pinned and steamed on the form and shot as the main frame, then turned for a separate inside neck pass from the identical camera position under identical light. Open fronted pieces needed further passes for cuffs and hem. Detail frames for fabric, buttons and lining were shot from the same setup.
How the day ran
Camera and lighting locked and not moved for the entire run, because that is the whole technique. Pieces were grouped so that anything needing the same pinning approach was shot together, and the range was ordered by priority so the hero pieces were on the cards early.
What was delivered
Composited and retouched files where the mannequin is gone and the collar reads as one continuous piece of fabric. Because retouching happens in the same building, the two pieces that did not composite cleanly were reshot the same afternoon rather than becoming a round trip through a supplier.
